On May 7, 1824, Beethoven shared his 9th Symphony with the world even though he could never hear it. On May 7, 2015 celebrate the anniversary of Beethoven’s most glorious and jubilant masterpiece with Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. An exhilarating testament to the human spirit, Beethoven’s Ninth bursts with brooding power and kinetic energy and culminates in the exultant hymn, “Ode to Joy.”The video is now available free on demand for all to enjoy! – See more at: http://cso.org/beethoven9

Arthur Tatum Jr. (/ˈteɪtəm/, October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) was an American jazz pianist.
Tatum is widely considered one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. His performances were hailed for their technical proficiency and creativity, which set a new standard for jazz piano virtuosity. Critic Scott Yanow wrote, “Tatum’s quick reflexes and boundless imagination kept his improvisations filled with fresh (and sometimes futuristic) ideas that put him way ahead of his contemporaries.”

The music played for the German officer in the film was actually an edit of Frédéric Chopin’s Ballade No.1 in G Minor, (Op. 23, No. 1). In real life, Wladyslaw Szpilman played Chopin’s Nocturne No.1 in C# Minor.
Adrien Brody lost 14 kg for the role he is Still Haunted By ‘The Pianist’ After 15 Years
“I was depressed for a year after ‘The Pianist,’” said Roman Polanski. “And I don’t suffer from that, generally. It wasn’t just a depression; it was a mourning. I was very disturbed by what I embraced [in making that film], and of the awareness that it opened up in me. But how much these things take from you changes project to project.”
Adrien Brody became the youngest person to date to win an Academy Award for Best Actor when he won for this film at the age of 29. Video Rating: / 5
